The UK chart singles first began to be compiled on 14th November 1952 with the top 12 best selling songs.

Al Martino took the top spot with the song “Here in My Heart”. He kept the top spot for 9 weeks, before being kicked off by Jo Stafford with her song, “You Belong To Me”.

These are the first ever songs to be included in the charts in the UK (Click the song titles to listen on YouTube). They are very different to todays music to say the least!
